The alchemy of fire and the significant transmutations of medal is explored here in this future archeology. The science of numismatics serves to identify and sometimes rediscover lost ancient civilizations. In this fantasy, I use today’s euro coins recuperated from the waste incinerator.  The series of photographs proceeds like a film, starting from a coin somewhat identifiable: Eur or Ur the most ancient of cities. The images become progressively abstract and finally morph into masks. We live in the final days of money as we know it. Digital payments with its electronic control. All transactions will be traceable to the authorities- Illegal activities will return to the ancient barter system, gold, precious gems and diamonds, drugs…  The new practices will imitate the old ones.
